Report: PSG’s Leonardo Prepared to Spend €80M For AC Milan Duo

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Paris Saint-Germain has been linked with AC Milan’s Lucas Paquetá for months and despite a deal not being announced yet, the sheer number of reports leads you to believe the interest from PSG sporting director Leonardo is factual.

Just to catch you up quickly in case you’re unfamiliar with the situation. Leonardo was the sporting director at AC Milan prior to joining PSG last summer and while he was in Italy, he signed Paquetá for €35 million from Flamengo according to Diario AS. The 22-year-old has yet to impress and live up to his price tag and Leonardo believes things will be different in Paris.

However, Leonardo is not prepared to pay Milan anywhere near the amount he paid to bring Paquetá there 12 months ago. The deal appeared to be at a standstill with Milan wanting to recoup as much of the €35 million as possible but over the weekend, Sky Italia reporter Luca Marchetti, per MilanNews.it, indicated that Leonardo is still very much interested in his compatriot and will likely make a January move for him. That’s not all though.

In addition to Paquetá, Leonardo wants to bring Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli to the French capital and is willing to splash the cash to the tune of €80 million according to a report from Corriere dello Sport, via CalcioMercato.com.

Milan currently sits in 12th place in Serie A and their best players could be looking to jump ship. That amount of money would certainly help the Italian club financially as UEFA Champions League football is highly unlikely at this point.

A deal of this magnitude would be difficult to pull off in January but Leonardo’s familiarity with Milan could aid in a swift deal. Definitely keep your eye on this one.
