Paris Saint-Germain will be without Ousmane Dembélé for their must-win match against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night.
A win over the German side will secure PSG’s spot in the UEFA Champions knockout stage, although there are other ways to advance.
However, Dembélé won’t be available for the game due to a yellow card accumulation, leading to his suspension. Hence, manager Luis Enrique needs to develop a new strategy to compensate for his absence.
In speaking with reporters, manager Luis Enrique told the media that his plan isn’t for one player to replace Dembélé regarding the creativity of the squad.
“Responsibility is always distributed,” Enrique said (h/t Paris Fans). “It’s not for just one player. It’s a team sport. We must take responsibility together. With a team as well stocked as PSG, it’s a pleasure. There are many possibilities. We can replace a player. Sometimes, people are absent, and that won’t be an excuse. I’m not going to complain.”
It will be interesting to see if PSG and Enrique can secure all three points without their best creator. All signs point to Kylian Mbappé having a big-time performance because of the importance of the contest.
With all that’s at stake in the match, it’s a side story to some, who will follow to see if the Parisians miss him in their lineup.
