Olympique de Marseille lost complete control of their supporters on Sunday night as rivals Paris Saint-Germain visited the Orange Vélodrome for the latest installment of Le Classique.
PSG supporters were already banned from attending the match out of caution and during the match, Neymar Jr. was pelted with trash as he attempted to take a corner kick. In the second half, one fan got up close and personal with Lionel Messi.
As Messi led the PSG attack, a Marseille supporter ran out onto the pitch and got within touching distance. Not only was the incident incredibly dangerous and could have led to someone getting hurt, but it completely stopped PSG’s attack in a game that could have been decided with just a single goal.
I can't take this league seriously man 😭😭😭

The Ligue de Football Professionnel must look at these incidents at the Vélodrome and take serious action beyond fining the club because that’s not working. They should work to identify those fans who threw trash and the fan who ran onto the pitch and give them lifetime bans. I also think forcing Marseille to play without fans for the next few games should be on the table as well. Unfortunately, I’m not holding my breath for any of this to happen and we’ll do it all again next season or this season if the two sides play in the Coupe de France.
Marseille fan on the pitch trying to reach Messi. Keen to see what the next LFP disciplinary committee make of this, if anything. #OMPSG
