Layvin Kurzawa was on the verge of leaving Paris Saint-Germain several times during the January transfer window but a deal with Arsenal FC and Juventus FC never materialized. With the Frenchman’s contract set to expire in June, Kurzawa will be available at a very affordable price.
According to France Football (via Daily Mirror), Arsenal are set to negotiate a new contract with Kurzawa this summer and bring him to North London on a free transfer.
The lack of UEFA Champions League football has left the Gunners a bit cash-strapped and injuries this season to Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac is likely the reason why Arsenal executives are taking a second look at Kurzawa.
We’ve been harsh on Kurzawa here at PSG Talk. I believe we even called him one of the worst transfers of the decade. However, Kurzawa started against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of PSG’s UEFA Champions League matchup and he’s expected to get the start again on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.
Kurzawa may not be a world-class left-back, however, considering Arsenal’s current standing in the Premier League and lack of Champions League football to offer transfer targets, he might be the best they can do right now.
