There are just some things you don’t joke about.
At a recent pre-match press conference, Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho was asked about potential transfers and in particular, Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.
Mourinho, who said that he has a “very good relationship” with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo, refused to speculate about a transfer deal for Cavani out of respect.
“I have a very good relationship with Mr. Nasser and Mr. Leonardo and I want to keep that great relationship,” Mourinho said. “Good relationships are based on respect and I’m not going to speak about a player from Paris Saint-Germain.”

While Cavani transfer talk is off-limits for Mourinho, mostly because the Uruguayan is actually pushing for a move away from the French capital in January, he is more than willing to joke about a loan deal for Kylian Mbappé.
“Unless you want a joke and if they are my friends, they could send Mbappé on loan?”
Say what you will about Mourinho, but that is exactly the right answer to give a journalist who is asking about a player who is not on your team.
It is disrespectful and unprofessional to comment seriously about the potential transfer of a player on another team. I think some of our friends in Spain could learn a thing or two.
