PSG Small Talk Podcast: Win Over Lille and Champions League Draw Preview

Paris Saint-Germain brought their two-game losing streak to a hault on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Lille OSC at the Parc des Princes. Goals from Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore, and Kylian Mbappé were the difference and talks of PSG being a team in crisis were put on hold for at least a few days.

On the latest episode of PSG Small Talk, host Marc Damon is joined by Carl Oscar Kallstrom all the way from Sweden. The two discuss Emery’s starting lineup, the lack of a plan going forward without Neymar Jr., and whether or not the manager would have survived a 4-0 loss to FC Bayern Munich last Tuesday. Giovani Lo Celso receives high praise from the guys for his performance as does Presnel Kimpembe who Kallstrom commends for his agressive mentality.

The issue for PSG, as its been for the past year at least, continues to be the ability to see a game out while in the lead and not give up a cheap goal. Emery’s squad continually makes things difficult for themselves by losing concentration and allowing teams they’re better than to creep back in for a hectic final 10-15 minutes. Lille’s goal in the 86th minute did exactly that and it wasn’t until Mbappé’s goal in stoppage time that supporters could rest easy assured of the three points.

Damon and Kallstrom wrap up the episode with some Cavani talk, the best and worst case scenarios for the UEFA Champions League draw on Monday and then the Coupe de la Ligue match against PSG’s old nemesis RC Strasbourg Alsace the following Wednesday.
