PSG’s Bold Move for Barcelona Teenage Sensation: What’s the Potential Barrier?

On Saturday, a report revealed Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in FC Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal. The information notes that the capital club are willing to spend a whopping €200 million on the 16-year-old sensation.

But the most recent update from transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano contradicts that rumor. Romano states that PSG hasn’t submitted a formal proposal for Yamal, and there are currently no ongoing discussions.

Nonetheless, Diario AS recently reported that the Parisians are willing to pursue Yamal and take advantage of Barcelona’s financial situation. Still, the Ligue 1 side isn’t ready to go overboard with their spending.

According to the Spanish media outlet, another reason that might not motivate entering into such a large-scale operation is Financial Fair Play. The incorporation of Yamal for a high figure has not even been contemplated in the top echelons of PSG.

Furthermore, it would also represent a huge burden in terms of Financial Fair Play, which already forced them to pay a €10 million fine two years ago.

The club will analyze the options presented to them in the summer without deciding in March, with three competitions to play, what profiles will define their market from July onwards.
