The Paris Saint-Germain midfield underwent some changes this past summer transfer window with the additions of Manuel Ugarter and Kang-in Lee, who can also play as a forward. Nonetheless, the capital club reportedly had one more target: Bruno Guimaraes.
Football Transfers reports that Liverpool and Paris Saint–Germain made proposals over the summer transfer window, which Newcastle knocked down, with the Ligue 1 champions offering more than the Reds.
While the capital club’s midfield has vastly improved, it needs more depth. As a result, the pursuit of Guimaraes made sense. However, pursuing the Brazilian was a tall task, considering Newcastle United is playing in the UEFA Champions League.
Furthermore, the report reveals that the Magpies want £100 million for the former Olympique Lyonnais star. Guimaraes is under contract until 2026, so the Premier League side is in a position of power to demand a high transfer fee.
PSG will get to see the 25-year-old up in person on Oct. 4 when the Parisians travel to St. James’ Parks. Then, the English club will travel to the Parc des Princes on Nov. 28. So these two matches could fuel any desire to land the player in the future.
