Who Should Replace Kylian Mbappé If He Leaves Paris Saint-Germain?

Last season was less than impressive for everyone at the Parc Des Princes. Yes, Paris Saint-Germain secured a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 crown however, they did so in less than impressive fashion.

In fact, their performances en route to becoming French Champions were so poor that it cost Christophe Galtier his job. Add to that round of 16 exits in both the Coupe de France and the UEFA Champions League and you can see why owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi lost patience with his manager. And if that wasn’t bad enough, his star striker has also informed him that he plans to leave upon the expiry of his contract next summer.

That has given the club a decision to make. Do they cash in on their prized asset this summer, or do they risk losing him next year for free? One particular thing is that the football betting providers have noticed the turmoil in the French capital. Betway makes the Parisians 9/1 outsiders to lift the Champions League next season, the one trophy their Qatari owners so desperately desire. And should their prized asset leave, their odds will dwindle even further.

As such, it’s imperative that Al-Khelaifi has a contingency plan in place in case his superstar striker is offloaded this summer. Considering the strikers that have moved to the French capital in the last decade, we presume he will have. Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and to a lesser extent, Mauro Icardi have all taken the coveted spot at the tip of the PSG eleven in recent years. And could one of these men be doing the same next season?

Harry Kane

Kylian Mbappé isn’t the only superstar striker that could be available on the market this summer. England captain Harry Kane may also be on the market.

The Tottenham Hotspur ace only has a year left on his contract, and he is also expected not to sign a new deal with his current club. That puts Spurs owner Daniel Levy in a challenging position, similar to the one PSG’s Qatari owners find themselves. Do they cash in on their star man and significantly weaken themselves? Or do they cling to him and risk losing him for free next summer?

Should Levy decide to sell, there will be no shortage of potential suitors interested in acquiring the 29-year-old’s services. Manchester United has long been admirers of him. Real Madrid is also interested in uniting him with their most recent signing, fellow Three Lion Jude Bellingham.

After the North London club’s disastrous campaign last season, their hitman may seek new pastures. Whether he will find green fields at the Parc Des Princes remains to be seen.

Victor Osimhen

PSG should strongly consider signing Victor Osimhen to fill the No. 9. The Napoli star has exceptional talent and the potential to elevate the team’s performance. Osimhen has consistently displayed remarkable skills and goal-scoring prowess throughout his career.

The 2022-23 Serie A champion’s impressive goal-scoring record speaks for itself. He has demonstrated exceptional consistency at the club level and internationally with the Nigerian national team. His ability to regularly find the back of the net would undoubtedly bolster PSG’s attacking force. Osimhen would provide them with a reliable and clinical finisher.

Moreover, Osimhen’s young age and potential for development make him a valuable long-term investment for the club. At 24 years old, he has already showcased immense talent. Under the guidance of PSG’s experienced coaching staff and world-class players, he has the potential to refine his skills further and become one of the best strikers in the world.
