The future of Kylian Mbappé remains uncertain. After the 24-year-old opted not to trigger the option to extend his current contract until 2025. As a result, rumors of an exit are beginning to swirl.
With Mbappé possibly being available, all eyes are on Real Madrid to make a move for the France international. CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson appeared on the latest PSG Talking podcast episode to discuss what a transfer to the Spanish club would look like.
Johnson noted that he believes if PSG were to extend Mbappé and then sell him after the 2023-24 season, the capital club can look to grab a player in the transaction. While Vinícius Júnior should be the option, PSG could consider another enticing option.
“The other name to keep an eye on as well who I think would be really interesting is [Aurélien] Tchouaméni,” Johnson said. “Because although Tchouaméni is a phenomenal talent and established France international now at senior level, he’s not having it all his own way at Real Madrid.
“So far, you’ve got Jude Bellingham going into the mix there now that’s another potentially interesting name to keep an eye on. So I do still think there’s possibilities with PSG to salvage the situation with Mbappé and potentially use Real’s interest to their advantage.”
It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid would be open to allowing a player like Tchouaméni or Vinícius to leave for the French capital to help cover some of the transfer fee to ensure Mbappé comes to Spain.
