Last season, Paris Saint-Germain battled with Lille OSC at the top of the Ligue 1 table for much of the campaign. This time around, PSG holds a comfortable 12-point lead with a mere eight matches remaining on its schedule.
Even though PSG is well on track to go on and clinch Ligue 1 this season, Gianluigi Donnarumma, as he explained to PSG TV, sees that the club must finish off the campaign on a strong note.
“It’s important to us because it’s our goal,” Donnarumma said. “It would be the 10th title in the history of this club, it is obviously very important for us to finish well and win it. These are eight decisive matches and we have to take them very seriously.
“We know that all the matches will be difficult, so we will have to be 100 percent to win them. There will be a battle until the end but we have to give everything for ourselves, but also for our supporters who support us.”
Donnarumma had a front-row seat to watch PSG’s attack muster up arguably its most potent performance of the league season last week, as the side went on to clinch a 5-1 home win over Lorient.
PSG has not had a winning streak in Ligue 1 since February, so it sure would be noteworthy if the side can finish off league play with multiple convincing performances.
