Paris Saint-Germain tapped Gianluigi Donnarumma to start against Stade Brestois, and the 23-year-old played a significant role for the capital club.

There were times that the Italy international bailed out the defense, including one case where a Brest forward snuck behind the backline and made a point-blank save to deny them a potential goal.

After the match, Donnarumma spoke to PSG TV, where he discussed his three-save performance for Les Parisiens in the 2-0 victory.

“We could have scored more goals, but the important thing is to win, to get three points again and move on. My stop? It was a tough save to make. It all comes from training, how I train for situations in such important matches thanks to the goalkeeping coaches, Toni (Jimenez) and Spino (Spinelli),” Donnarumma said.

“We trained hard, and we anticipated what happened in the match. So it was a good save, but as I said before, the team can count on me, I will always give my all, and we try together not to concede goals. That’s the goal in every game because we’re going to score; we have a great team that can score at any time, so that’s the goal, not to concede a goal. And today we succeeded – and we hope to continue like this in the next matches.”
