Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar was not included in Brazil’s final squad list for its 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Argentina due to a thigh injury.

On Monday, the Brazilian forward self-reported that he is dealing with discomfort in his thigh and thus, the Selecao opted to take the conservative route by electing to not include him in the squad list against La Albiceleste.

As noted by L’Equipe, Neymar is slated to arrive in Paris to rejoin his PSG teammates on Wednesday at the latest. From there, the forward will undergo medical tests from PSG’s medical staff to further examine the extent of his injury.

The report does add that it is still too early to speculate on if Neymar will be available for PSG’s upcoming UEFA Champions League away group stage fixture against Manchester City. At the least, there is expected to be “caution” from the club as to whether he may feature in the upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes.

For now, it remains to be seen on whether Neymar will earn the green light to take part in the team’s scheduled training sessions in the coming days.
