Mbappe Ranks 3rd Behind Kane and Lewandowski in One Key Goals Stat this Season

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is off to arguably the best start to a Ligue 1 season in his career so far. Mbappe is picking off where he left off from last season as a fierce goal-scoring threat with nine goals in seven Ligue 1 appearances this season, which leads the league. He has scored key goals against the likes of AS Monaco and OGC Nice.

On the other hand, Mbappe is developing his game as a playmaking forward as well. He is averaging a formidable 1.6 key passes per game to go along with his four assists this season. The French forward is well on pace to set a personal career-high for assists in a Ligue 1 season.

Mbappe’s strong start to the league season is not going unnoticed. He currently ranks third behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski for the most goal contributions within Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Kane has flourished as a playmaking forward, as he leads the Premier League in assists with nine. Meanwhile, Lewandowski is continuing his strong goal-scoring run with a Bundesliga-leading 11 goals this season.

Expect these three talents to be among the few serious contenders for the 2020-2021 Golden Boot award this season.
