If you were to believe most of what is published about Neymar Jr., you would think he is miserable at Paris Saint-Germain and is counting down the days until the transfer window opens so he can bolt for FC Barcelona.
No one truly knows what is going on in the mind of Neymar but we can infer what he might be thinking from his actions in public and it’s the opposite of what’s being written.
This season, we’ve seen Neymar joking with teammates and his relationship with Kylian Mbappé couldn’t be better. After the win over Borussia Dortmund that clinched a birth in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, Neymar broke down in tears. All of this doesn’t sound like a player who hates where he’s playing his football.
Recent comments from Ander Herrera would also indicate that Neymar is close with his teammates and committed to the PSG project. In an interview with Canal Plus (via Culture PSG), the former Manchester United midfielder discussed the win over Dortmund and the gesture from Neymar that convinced him that the journalists are wrong about the Brazilian.
“Yes, it was magnificent. I remember after the match in Dortmund, they celebrated the victory as if they had won the Champions League final. This situation gave a lot of strength to the club.”
“I remember that Neymar did a lot for the club during this period. We gathered to eat at his place, he was very concentrated. He put everyone with him so when I see that journalists say that he does not think about PSG, I see what he has done during this period and it is incredible.”
This isn’t the first time Herrera has called out the media for their reporting on Neymar. When he first arrived, the Spain international essentially accused the media of making things up about Neymar and his situation at PSG.
Leandro Paredes might be Neymar’s bodyguard on the pitch but when it comes to fighting the media, Herrera is perfect for the job.
