Neymar Jr.’s night ended in tears but they were tears of joy after Paris Saint-Germain defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 to advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

After the final whistle, Neymar collapsed to the pitch and buried his head in his arm and cried as his teammates celebrated around him. He physically had to be pulled up to his feet where he covered his face with his jersey from the television camera.
Make no mistake about it, PSG would not be advancing to the next round of the Champions League without Neymar. The Brazil international scored two goals over the tie and was influential throughout. He created chances for his teammates and tracked back to help his defenders. It was a masterclass performance from PSG’s number 10.
For a player that has spent the past year being ridiculed and criticized by the media and even his own supporters at times, it must have felt like the weight of the world was lifted off his shoulders when the match finally ended and the wave of emotion left him in tears.
Say what you will about Neymar, but the guy is a competitor and he loves the game of football. If he can stay healthy for the rest of the season, I like PSG’s chances in the tournament.
