According to Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, the deal to send Layvin Kurzawa to Juventus FC for Mattia De Sciglio was done, but then the Italian club backed out.
On Saturday, Kurzawa made his second consecutive start for PSG since the failed transfer and against Montpellier HSC at the Parc des Princes, the Frenchman scored a very difficult goal to put PSG up 5-0.
Sure, the goal came late in the game and against a team already playing with a man down, but take nothing away from Kurzawa’s skill. The left-back has always been more comfortable going forward than defending, so this match was tailor-made for him.
With Juan Bernat out due to injury, manager Thomas Tuchel will need to rely on Kurzawa to play meaningful minutes so this goal will go a long way to boost his confidence after spending all January wondering where he might play the rest of the season.
