Paris Saint-Germain created several chances but couldn’t find the back of the net, losing 1-0 to Liverpool on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

The game’s only goal came late in the second half, but the most controversial moment came midway through the first half when Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate challenged Bradley Barcola as the attacker fell to the ground.

VAR reviewed the incident to determine if it warranted a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity, but after the check, the referee allowed play to continue.

Footage from Canal Plus showed PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos’ heated reaction at halftime, where he argued that Konate should have been sent off or a penalty awarded for a push on Barcola.

Virgil van Dijk’s response to the controversy: “It’s not Ligue 1, bro.”

This PSG loss is the first since last November when they fell to Bayern Munich. Luis Enrique and his team must pick themselves up and turn the tie around at Anfield.
