Liverpool have been in strong form this season, but after a weekend off, they’ll enter their Champions League first-leg clash with Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes either feeling refreshed or potentially a bit out of sync.
Ahead of the first leg, one pundit believes there are five PSG players who could make things difficult for Liverpool, given their current form heading into this match.
Before turning their attention to Europe, Liverpool kept their momentum going with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield on Wednesday.
PSG, on the other hand, were dominant over the weekend, cruising to a 4-1 win over LOSC Lille, with all four goals coming in the first half. Arne Slot’s side heads into this match unbeaten in their last five games, with three wins and two draws.
Luis Enrique’s team, meanwhile, is riding a 10-match winning streak and hasn’t lost in 22 games across all competitions. This sets up an exciting showdown between two in-form teams as the 2024-25 season nears its end.
Who are the five players that threaten Liverpool?

French football pundit Pierre Menes stated five players that manager Luis Enrique has gotten the most out of this season. If the Parisians want to advance to the quarterfinals, they’ll likely need a top-quality performance from them over the 180 minutes.
“One obvious factor is the team’s current form,” Menes said (h/t Le10Sport). “At the start of the season, we can’t forget that Luis Enrique didn’t call up [Ousmane] Dembele for the Arsenal match, Barcola was struggling, [Fabian] Ruiz wasn’t making progress, Joao Neves had just joined… and most importantly, Desire Doue was still adjusting.
“Now, though, Doue is thriving, and Dembele has been an incredible revelation as a center-forward. [Bradley] Barcola has regained his effectiveness, and Ruiz is almost playing at the same level he does with Spain.
“Just those four players have completely transformed the team. Aside from some occasional dips in form, I don’t see any reason why PSG would slip again.”
