Manchester United have their eyes on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. However, what’s stalling a potential transfer is the fee the Parisians are demanding, but it seems the Red Devils could make a sale to help fund this pursuit.
David Ornstein from The Athletic reports that Manchester United are exploring other midfield options after hitting a snag in their talks with PSG over Ugarte. The main issue is PSG’s €60 million asking price.
Meanwhile, PSG remain relaxed, knowing there’s plenty of interest from other potential buyers for Ugarte. Sky Sports reports (h/t The Mirror) that the Premier League team’s unwillingness to accept a lower price for Scott McTominay indicates that any deal for Ugarte is currently on hold and might even be canceled entirely.
Moreover, the report reveals that Manchester United have rejected two offers from Fulham for their academy graduate, with the highest bid being £20 million. The Red Devils are holding out for a higher fee if they are to let him go. Fulham, in turn, have now shifted their attention elsewhere.
Selling McTominay could have helped fund a move for Ugarte, but by choosing to keep him, United might lack the funds to pursue the PSG player. Alternatively, they may have decided to keep McTominay, having accepted that a deal for Ugarte is unlikely and wanting to ensure they have enough resources.
