Even though he’s only 16, midfielder Franco Mastantuono is turning heads at several elite European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, which have shown interest in him. A recent interview with a River Plate club official confirmed the widespread attention the player is receiving.
However, prying Mastantuono away from River Plate won’t come cheap, as his release clause stands at €45 million. It’s worth noting that this figure could climb to €50 million if he leaves just ten days before the transfer window closes.
Despite the reported interest from various clubs, Relevo (h/t Fichajes) reports that the teenager’s camp has already made a decision on his future. According to the Spanish media outlet, the midfielder wants to play for Real Madrid. He has communicated his decision to his agents, instructing them to prioritize any offers coming from the Spanish capital club.
Real Madrid is already aware of the player’s green light and will prepare discussions with River Plate. The Merengues’ executives hope to negotiate a fee lower than the player’s €45 million release clause and are relying on the good relationship between the two clubs to achieve this.
The goal for the Madridistas is to pay a large portion upfront and include variables, while the player would remain at River until August 2025.
