Over the last few days, Gonçalo Ramos’ name has been in the rumor mill of potential departures from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. However, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson believes letting the striker leave would be a mistake.

Rumors have started swirling about Ramos, with Atlético Madrid showing interest. But it seems like the Spanish club might not be the only ones eyeing the former SL Benfica star.

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud is reportedly discussing a possible transfer to LAFC this summer. Another report revealed that Ramos’ agent, Jorge Mendes, is ready to propose the PSG goal scorer to replace the French striker.

Nonetheless, Johnson, who spoke with PSG Talk, noted that it would be a step in the wrong direction to let the former SL Benfica standout leave this summer. The French football expert states that, when given a chance, Ramos has made the most of his opportunities on the pitch.

“I do think it would be a mistake,” Johnson told PSG Talk. “I think Ramos has shown [that] when he’s given time and a run in the team, he can be dangerous in front of goal. He’s still got that clinical edge that he had when he was at Benfica. So I think that it would be shortsighted of PSG to not keep him and see if they can get the attacking setup to work once Kylian Mbappé moves on.

“I think the bigger question mark, actually, for me was probably more Randal Kolo Muani at this moment in time, given how he’d fallen down the pecking order. I know [that] just before the international break that, Ramos obviously missed a big opportunity to really stake his claim for a place. But it does feel like when he’s given more and more opportunities, he does tend to take them. He does keep scoring.”
