FC Barcelona drew Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, and it’s likely both teams feel that either side can advance to the semifinals. One of the veterans on the Spanish team, Robert Lewandowski, revealed his mindset for the challenging tie.
The Poland international spoke with ESPN and noted that drawing the Parisians is a tough challenge for them. However, Lewandowski states that the squad can answer the call and advance to the semifinals.
“Of course, the first reaction was that we have a very tough appointment, but it’s Champions League now,” Lewandowski said. “You cannot think that one of the two games will be easy for us because every team is very dangerous with amazing quality and performance. But in the end, more important is how we’re going to play, what we’re going to play.
“And of course, we are ready for this. And for me, it’s like enjoying every game of the Champions League. I know what it means to play in this Champions League. And I know what it means to win the games. And I hope that we’re going to play very well from the first minute, and in the end, we beat them, and we’re going to play in the semifinal.”
In another interview, the former Bayern Munich star stressed that this matchup could bring out the best in Ousmane Dembélé. The 26-year-old left FC Barcelona last summer, and in less than 12 months, the Frenchman will return to face the Catalan side.
Dembélé isn’t alone who will be making his return to face Barcelona. PSG manager Luis Enrique will be up against his former club and coaching against Xavi Hernandez, who he had as a player.
