Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly be in the market for a center-back this summer. All eyes are on whether the Parisians can land LOSC Lille’s Leny Yoro, but they face tough competition. However, one expert says that the Parisians need to stay on par and pursue class-A targets.

A few days ago, PSG’s name was mentioned as part of the clubs that have their eyes on Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. According to the report, the 21-year-old is drawing interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Barcelona.

The Brazilian arrived at Forest last summer, but the Reds could be relegated after this season, meaning Murillo could be sold at the right price. Transfermarkt puts the former Corinthians standout’s transfer value at €25 million, but even with the potential of an economical price tag, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson believes PSG should steer clear.

“For me, honestly, I think PSG are now at a point where they don’t need to be looking [for potential] backup options, especially through the glasses of a future without Kylian Mbappé past the end of this season,” Johnson told PSG Talk.

“I think given the budgetary constraints that Mbappé’s departure would lift from PSG, I don’t think any of the targets that the PSG go for should be considered plan B territory anymore.”

It will be interesting to see if PSG can land Yoro this summer or if they decide to shift their focus to a player who they believe has similar potential to the Lille youngster to become a world-class center-back.
