Real Madrid Monitoring Manchester United’s £64M Goal Scorer as Mbappé Alternative

Real Madrid wants Kylian Mbappé, as the 25-year-old’s contract expires in June. However, the Spanish giants aren’t putting all their eggs in the Frenchman’s basket. The La Liga side reportedly has Plan C ready.

Mbappé is Plan A for Los Blancos to bolster their attack since he’d arrive as a free agent. All they would need to do is pay his salary and bonuses, but Plan B would be Erling Haaland. Nonetheless, to land the Manchester City star, they’d need to pay the Premier League club a significant fee.

Still, Haaland’s recent remarks hint at the Norwegian international being happy with his situation. As a result, Real Madrid might have to go to Plan C. Defensa Central reports that the club has asked their chief scout, Juni Calafat, to monitor Rasmus Højlund as an option should they fail to sign either Haaland or Mbappé this summer.

Højlund arrived at Manchester United this past summer after the Red Devils paid Atalanta an initial £64 million for Hojlund, with a further £8 million in add-ons. It will be interesting to see if Florentino Perez has to go to a third option for the No. 9 player.
