Ousmane Dembélé Talks Expectations at PSG After Barcelona Departure

Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé is well into his first season with the capital club. The Frenchman left FC Barcelona this past summer to return to France.

The Parisians paid €50.4 million for the former Barcelona player to be one of Kylian Mbappé’s sidekicks this 2023-24 season. Dembélé recently spoke with Le Parisien, and one of the questions that the PSG winger answered was about his expectations heading into Year 1 in Paris.

“Obviously, winning titles,” Dembélé told the French media outlet (h/t Paris Fans). “For now, we’re on track in all competitions. The goal is for the season to end as late as possible, in June, at the time of the Champions League final, so that we’re still here to finish with as many trophies as possible.”

Dembélé has made 25 total appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and registering 10 assists for PSG. Furthermore, the French media outlet asked whether the player views whether he and the squad are meeting expectations.

“We are in a project where there have been a lot of recruits: 11 since the beginning of the season, 12 now with Beraldo,” Dembélé added. “The club is in reconstruction. I try to do my best, always give my maximum, and be decisive.”

PSG is currently at the top of the Ligue 1 table, in the Coupe de France quarterfinals, and preparing for a Round of 16 matchup against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League. So, they’re positioned to win a treble this season, which many view as a rebuilding year.
