Hugo Ekitike is continuing his football career with Eintracht Frankfurt, as the Frenchman left on loan this past January transfer window. Despite the struggles this 2023-24 season, the 21-year-old praises Kylian Mbappé for being his mentor.
Ekitike recently stated what he learned from being Mbappé’s teammate for the past two years. While he didn’t explode at Paris Saint-Germain as some might have hoped, he learned a lot that he now takes to Frankfurt.
“Thanks to my contact with Kylian Mbappé, I became a better person and a better footballer because I was able to learn a lot of things,” Ekitike said (h/t Paris Fans). “He gave me lots of advice to help me improve and recommended I take the next step now.
PSG sealed a loan agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt just before the January transfer window closed. Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that it will be a loan deal with an obligation to buy for €30 million plus sell-on.
However, another report from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Ekitike’s loan deal is only an option to buy in the summer for Frankfurt; it’s not a mandatory buy option, as Romano informs.
Still, if Ekitike performs well, Frankfurt will likely make his stay permanent.
