Luis Enrique Weighs in on Xavi’s Barcelona Exit, Camp Nou Return

FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez will leave the Spanish club after this 2023-24 season. The Catalan side now has to seek a new coach, and Luis Enrique was one of the first names to surface.

On Sunday, SPORT’s Jordi Gil reported that Enrique is the coach Barcelona players would most like to replace Xavi for next season. The La Liga side’s locker room also wants the former Spanish national team coach.

Following Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-2 draw against Stade Brestois at the Parc des Princes on Sunday night, reporters asked Enrique about Xavi’s announcement to leave Barcelona and a possible return to the Camp Nou. However, the Spanish boss showed no interest in entertaining the question.

“I have nothing to comment on this issue,” Enrique told reporters (h/t Diario AS)

Despite Barcelona’s interest in the Parisians’ manager, Enrique’s move to the Spanish side appears almost impossible due to his existing contract with PSG. It is unlikely that the capital club would allow him to leave. Enrique recently began his first season with PSG after signing a two-year contract this past summer to lead the new project.
