Kylian Mbappé’s Word No Longer Has Value to Real Madrid, Journalist Says

The Kylian Mbappé transfer saga will kick off in a few days, and all eyes are on Real Madrid. Ahead of the January transfer window opening, French journalist Frédéric Hermel appeared on RMC Sport to discuss the saga.

Los Blancos reportedly have a deadline for the Frenchman to decide on their offer. According to reports, it’s 15 days to decide whether to accept their pre-contract offer. The question is whether Real Madrid will stand firm with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Real Madrid doesn’t trust Kylian Mbappé

Hermel spoke about what he knows from the Spanish side’s perspective. The journalist notes that the Paris Saint-Germain star’s word with the La Liga side has little to no value after the past rejections from him.

“What happened a year and a half ago? Real Madrid still has it in its throat,” Hermel said (h/t Le10Sport). “Several told me that today, Mbappé’s words no longer have value. (…) What I have been told in recent days is that it is up to Mbappé to make the effort. It is up to him to do the job if he wants to come.

“After what I felt, it was that between Haaland and Mbappé, it leaned more towards Haaland. They say that Haaland is younger; he suits the system better because there is already Vinicius, Rodrygo, and [Jude] Bellingham.”

Whatever happens during the January window, Mbappé will reportedly stay with PSG until the end of the 2023-24 season. Considering the Ligue 1 side will play in the UEFA Champions League round 16, it shouldn’t be a surprise.
