Newcastle United will face a Paris Saint-Germain squad coming off an impressive 5-2 win over AS Monaco on Friday night at the Parc des Princes. For the Ligue 1 giants, a win over the Magpies will put them one foot into the knockout stages.
Vitinha spoke about the upcoming matchup with the Premier League side. The Portugal international scored in the victory for PSG and afterward noted that the French giants are prepared for Newcastle.
“[PSG] are well prepared for the Newcastle match,” Vitinha told Prime Video (h/t Culture PSG). “We can’t wait to play it, and I hope the atmosphere at the Parc will be incredible; we will need that on Tuesday; it is going to be a crazy match.”
Meanwhile, manager Luis Enrique also commented on the upcoming match against Newcastle.
“It’s always very difficult to play after the international break,” Enrique told reporters (h/t Culture PSG). “But I have to say that the effort put in by the players was excellent. The result is perfect against one of the best teams in the championship. We managed to impose ourselves in this way. Now we are looking forward to Tuesday’s match.”
PSG will look to avenge the lopsided 4-1 loss in October at St. James’ Park. What does benefit the Parisians is that Newcastle won’t have that rush of people behind them.
Furthermore, the English club has two wins in their last six matches in all competitions, including two losses to Borussia Dortmund, which has put their chances of advancing in a dire situation. Whoever loses between Newcastle and PSG could definitely be saying goodbye to the Round of 16.
