Chelsea and Newcastle United Join Race for PSG’s Left-Back Transfer Target – Report

Paris Saint-Germain will likely eye a left-back this January transfer window. Currently, the French giants have Lucas Hernandez occupying the position. There’s little behind him with Nuno Mendes out for four months.

One of the names linked to the French giants is Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco. Recently, the reporting out of Italy suggests that PSG and Manchester United are landing spots for the Italian.

However, if Dimarco is a possible left-back target, PSG faces competition for the 25-year-old. CalcioMercato.com (h/t Fichajes) reports that Chelsea and Newcastle United are ready to join the race to land the defender.

Despite the interest in the left-back, Inter Milan wants to hold onto the player. The Serie A club isn’t keen on selling the player, so they wish to offer Dimarco a long-term contract.

The player currently has a deal until 2026. Still, increased wages and term security might be enough for him to reject any interest. As for PSG, they could still have an interest in Dimarco. However, they might not be putting all their eggs in this basket.

Recent reports link PSG to FC Nantes’ Quentin Merlin. So, it will be interesting to see what direction the Ligue 1 side decides to take in their search for a left-back.
