Paris Saint-Germain is in a battle with Chelsea for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte. A recent report revealed that the 22-year-old’s agent would present him with both offers.
Nonetheless, Portuguese media outlet Record has reported that Ugarte would rather join Chelsea than PSG despite the Blues not playing in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League.
According to the information, the Uruguay international dreams of playing in the Premier League, which might explain why he will overlook the lack of playing in Europe’s top club competition next season.

Chelsea reportedly wants to trigger the player’s €60 million release clause in his contract. Furthermore, the English club wants to add bonuses to sweeten their offer over PSG’s proposal.
Ugarte’s agent Jorge Mendes, who is close to PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos, mediates between the Ligue 1 side and Sporting in these negotiations. If Record is accurate, then Campos will have a decision to make.
He can attempt to convince Ugarte of the capital club’s project and his role, or he can drop this file and move on to another target that can fill the No. 6 position in the midfield.
