Rivaldo Weighs in on Neymar’s Future Amid Manchester United Speculation

Neymar Jr. has been linked to Manchester United and other Premier League clubs as the summer transfer window opens up in a few weeks.

Clubs in England are the only destination for the veteran since his wages and possible fee can only be afforded by Premier League sides. Nonetheless, a move to join the Red Devils is approved by Brazilian legend Rivaldo.

“I am in favor of Neymar transferring to Manchester United,” Rivaldo said. “In recent days, there has been talk that Neymar might sign for United at the end of the season and, unlike when he left Barcelona for PSG, this time, I am in favor of this move.”

While Rivaldo gives the green light to Neymar possibly heading to Manchester United, the same cannot be said by the right-hand assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson.

René Meulensteen warned the Red Devils of a possible pursuit of Neymar.

The Manchester United assistant coach from 2007 to 2013 described the player as a prima donna, emphasizing concerns about the PSG star’s attitude and temperament.

“It’s probably rumors and speculation; everybody keeps tight-lipped about it,” Meulensteen said while speaking to talkSPORT. “I have my reservations about it because he’s obviously a high-caliber player but he’s also a prima donna.

“He’s never played in the Premier League. Playing in Spain and France is completely different. Also, his best position is playing on the left wing and you’re going to go with Rashford. But you need to look into it and that’s why I think Erik keeps his cards close to his chest on this one.”

It will be interesting to see what sporting advisor Luis Campos will do with Neymar considering the player has a contract until 2027 and is coming off a season-ending ankle injury.
