Report: PSG’s Projected Starting 11 vs. Auxerre – Will Messi Get Closer to History?

Paris Saint-Germain has a mere three matches left on its Ligue 1 schedule this season, and it will meet Auxerre for an away fixture on matchday 36.

PSG is just coming off a convincing 5-0 home win over AC Ajaccio. Lionel Messi did not record a single goal contribution in the contest, but at the least for PSG, Kylian Mbappe upped his game with a two-goal performance.

As noted by Ligue 1’s official website, PSG manager Christophe Galtier could call on these 11 players to start against Auxerre.

Donnarumma; Pereira, Marquinhos, Ramos; Zaire-Emery, Ruiz, Verratti, Bernat; Messi, Ekitike, Mbappe

Gianluigi Donnarumma was recently nominated for the UNFP Goalkeeper of the Year award for this season. The Italian goalkeeper sure could use a keen performance in PSG’s upcoming matchup against Auxerre to bolster his resume for the honor.

Messi still sits at 15 assists recorded in Ligue 1 play this season, which leads the league. The Argentine forward has tallied a mere one assist in his last four appearances in league play. If Messi can log four assists over PSG’s remaining three fixtures this season, then he will break Angel Di Maria’s record (18 in the 2015-2016 season) for the most assists in a single Ligue 1 campaign.

PSG last met Auxerre on matchday 15 when it came away with a 5-0 home win.
