Barcelona Star Pleas for Lionel Messi Return to Camp Nou This Summer

Lionel Messi’s two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain haven’t gone as planned, with the 35-year-old being booed for two straight years after the capital club crashed out in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Additionally, the Argentine has been inconsistent since club football resumed after the 2022 FIFA World Cup. As a result, there’s been plenty of criticism regarding his play; nonetheless, FC Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto wants Messi to return to the Spanish club.

“I hope Messi returns to Barça,” Roberto told Jijantes FC after Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday at Camp Nou. “We are waiting for him. He doesn’t deserve the treatment he’s getting in Paris.”

While it’s easy to tell a player to join a specific club, there’s the business side of football that might be a thorn in a reunion at Camp Nou. In a recent report that revealed Messi would like a return to the Catalan side, the information disclosed that Barcelona has to make changes.

Barcelona must sell off various players to ensure they comply with La Liga’s salary cap. Whether that occurs remains to be seen, considering the Argentine wants to earn wages close to what Kylian Mbappé makes on his new contract.

  1. Messi is the greatest player of all time. He deserves way better than this. I think at this point in his life, he doesn’t have anything left to prove anymore. He has 10 La ligas, 7 Ballon D’Ors, 4 UCLs and a World Cup to his name. He deserves better.

    1. Agree wholeheartedly to his return to Barcelona. PSG is at the top of the table because of Messi. Let’s see how they perform without Messi. A football team is made up of 11 players. Messi may be the greatest player of all time, but he alone can’t win a game.
Kylian Mbappe needs Messi. Look at the goals he scored. Who create all those goals that he has been scoring? Messi of course.
At Barcelona, he can wield his magic. He will be the Captain. He will lead, like he did for Argentina.
