FC Barcelona Joan Laporta is attempting to make amends with Lionel Messi through the media in hopes that it’s enough to see the 35-year-old return to the Camp Nou next summer.
Messi left the Spanish club in tears before the 2021-22 football season and signed a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain. The veteran forward’s contract expires in June 2023, and he will have to decide where to continue his career.
Laporta hopes it will be with Barcelona, so he left the door open for Messi and admitted his failure to keep the Argentine.
“We did not solve it well [Messi’s exit],” Laporta said. “And I also feel responsible for this. You understand me? It must be that institutionally I did not solve it well.
“It was not easy. And the truth is that I think I know him, and I’m sure he knows that Barca is his home and that he’s a person who we love very much.”

Messi will not decide on his future until after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but that doesn’t mean the media will not report on new information, or in this case, club chiefs will make their case to sign the PSG star.
Come back home Leo.
