Neymar Wouldn’t Take Chelsea Star’s Spot on England National Team, Pundit Believes

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. isn’t the most beloved player to English football pundits. They’re not afraid to say specific talents in the Premier League are better than the 30-year-old, which occurred again on Thursday.

TalkSPORT’s Jason Cundy provided a hot take by saying that, at the moment, he would take Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount over Neymar on the England national team, citing that the Brazil international isn’t a team player and wouldn’t be a fit for the Three Lions.

“I tell you why Neymar doesn’t get near any team that I want to support is because it’s him,” Cundy said. “He’s not a team player. He’s not a team player. Yes, 100 percent [take Mason Mount over Neymar]. And I’ll tell you why because Neymar won’t do what Mount does. He won’t do the dirty work.

“Can you imagine if Neymar was English in that Southgate squad? Can you imagine the disruption? What it would do? The effect it would have? He’s not part of the gang … It’s about him. It’s more than just the player.”

English pundits and even American ones have shown their distaste for Neymar, whether it’s the way he players or life away from the pitch despite the veteran forward never getting into trouble.

Regardless, if Neymar leads Brazil to the 2022 FIFA World Cup and plays a part in Paris Saint-Germain reaching the UEFA Champions League, then not many are going to question whether he’s a player that a team can win with as one of their marquee talents.
