The 2022-23 UEFA Champions League group stage has ended, with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe being the top performers.
Champions League Stats on Twitter pointed out that Mbappe and Messi are at the top of the leaderboard regarding most goal contributions.
The 23-year-old led all players with 10 goal contributions; meanwhile, right behind Mbappe was Messi, who was tied for second with Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah with eight goal contributions so far.
Despite these contributions from Mbappe and Messi, Paris Saint-Germain could not win Group H as Benfica came away with winning the group on the sixth tiebreaker as both were tied for 14 points.
Nonetheless, PSG can rely on their two stars to perform in the knockout stages despite the team finishing in second place and will be one of the teams the first-place clubs want to avoid in the knockout stages.
If the French giants can have their sporting advisor, Luis Campos, fix their issues on the backline, then perhaps it will boost the team to advance past the Round of 16.
