The 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off in a few days, and as the tournament nears, many will give their opinion as to which national team will come away lifting the trophy. For some, it’s Argentina and Lionel Messi.
In an interview with Marca (h/t Fox Sports Mexico), FC Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski spoke about what it will be like to face Argentina in the World Cup, qualifying them as one of the favorites to be crowned in the tournament as well as praising Messi.
“I think that Argentina, with Messi, is one of the favorites to win the World Cup,” Lewandowski said. “They haven’t lost in 30 games; They play well and you can see that they are a very good team. They have a plan, which they are following as a group.”
Lewandowski and Poland are in the same group as Argentina, which also includes Mexico and Saudi Arabia, so although there’s respect for the Barcelona goal scorer, he will have to beat Messi to secure a spot in the group stage.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward will be looking for the storybook ending to his international career as he hopes to cap it off by winning the trophy that has long eluded him in his playing career.
