Transfer Expert Gives Verdict on Neymar Amid Links to Chelsea, Man United & Newcastle

The discussion over the future of Neymar Jr. continues to be a talking point for various football media outlets, especially considering that the latest report links the 30-year-old to a possible move to the Premier League.

However, during a segment on talkSPORT, the network’s transfer expert, Alex Cook, states that it’s unlikely Neymar will be met with the scenario of heading to England and seeing the Brazil international staying at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United being reportedly connected to the forward, Neymar doesn’t fit what these clubs are looking for this summer. Of the three, Cook says that The Blues might be the only ones likely to pursue a move.

Manchester United is under a new direction with Erik ten Hag, now the new manager at Old Trafford. Furthermore, despite the newfound money, Newcastle United wouldn’t go after the PSG star since he’s not the type of player that manager Eddie Howe wants.

“He’s on huge wages, and that’s why they’re going to struggle to shift him. There’s a report in France where they’re clearly trying to push him out the door, saying the only clubs that could afford him were Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle,” Cook said.

“Absolutely no chance does Eddie Howe go for Neymar. He’s a million miles away from the player that Eddie Howe signs. Chelsea might just be crazy enough, and I don’t see Manchester United going down that road with this rebuild they’ve got. I think he’ll stay at PSG.”

It’s likely all this talk about Neymar leaving the French capital, where he reportedly has a contract until 2027, would be for nothing.
