Journalist Gives an Update on the Future of Leonardo at PSG

When Paris Saint-Germain crashed out against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, many expected significant changes to the capital club.

Supporters not only wanted a change in the manager position that would see Mauricio Pochettino exit but also have Leonardo leave his position as the sporting director. However, a couple of months since the elimination, the Brazilian might not be leaving after all.

According to French football journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Leonardo could survive the latest UEFA Champions League embarrassment. Hawkins states that the possibility of seeing the sporting director stay with the French giants is gaining momentum.

If Leonardo stays past this season, which ends soon, it won’t go over well with the supporters who want a drastic change in philosophy, and it seems many believe the Brazilian isn’t the right man to build the squad to win the Champions League.

Furthermore, he’s been criticized for his inability to sell players who have no place at PSG and address key weaknesses on the squad. With the summer transfer window opening next month, it will be this month to part ways with Leonardo.
