This summer could see the end of an era with the contract of Angel Di Maria expiring, and it doesn’t seem as though Paris Saint-Germain is eyeing an extension. As a result, the capital club will be looking for a replacement.
According to French football journalist Nabil Djellit (via Paris Fans), the Ligue 1 side could be eyeing Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez. The 31-year-old’s contract expires in 2023, and a possible exit could be in the cards.
Djellit adds that PSG isn’t the only club eyeing the Algeria international, as Real Madrid is also in the mix for the former Leicester City star. Mahrez is young than Di Maria, but the forward is already in his 30s, and it should be a priority to get younger.
The capital club already has Lionel Messi and Neymar in their 30s. Still, perhaps Mahrez’s 2021-22 season, where he’s scored 23 goals and recorded eight assists in 41 appearances in all competitions, is causing the French giants to overlook the age.
