Nice Manager Christophe Galtier Explains Why He Hopes Kylian Mbappé Extends With PSG

June is a handful of weeks away, and the countdown to when Kylian Mbappé’s contract expires with Paris Saint-Germain and the 23-year-old can sign anywhere he wants. Real Madrid remains lurking, but the France international has yet to decide on his future.

OGC Nice manager Christophe Galtier campaigned for an extension of Mbappé during his news conference with the media. RMC Sport relayed the comments made by the French tactician who believes the forward staying at PSG is good for the league.

“I dare to hope that all the Parisian supporters and all those who love PSG want Kylian to stay. We also need everyone, you (the journalists) like us (the coaches) and the spectators or television viewers wanted Kylian Mbappé to stay at PSG,” Galtier said.

“If we could still have the chance to see Kylian Mbappé evolve with PSG, that would be very good for Ligue 1 and very good for everyone. “I don’t know if there are discussions or not, but I hope that Kylian Mbappé will stay in our league. He is a fabulous player and I currently think that he is the locomotive of Ligue 1”

Galtier does have a point regarding Mbappé remaining with the French giants benefits Ligue 1 since it allows them to have a star they can market their coverage. In addition, many casual fans would tune into La Liga and the Premier League because they have the marquee stars of football.

It will be interesting to see if other clubs can invest money into their squad and attract marketable players and help raise Ligue 1’s profile.

  1. I am very surprised some people express the idea that PSG should have a mental coach, while I think it should be obvious that what PSG is missing is a real coach, not a fake one who has not been able in almost 1 year to implement a style and who never had any kind of tactic. Aside from the fact that you cannot train any team properly if you speak through interpreter ,this is really ridiculous! I cannot wait for Zidane !!!
