Paris Saint-Germain has secured its tenth title following their 1-1 draw against RC Lens; however, now, the changes that need to be made to improve the squad need to begin with who’s leading the project next season.
The futures of manager Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo are up in the air. When the capital club crashed out of the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid, it became evident that changes needed to be made.
Nonetheless, Leonardo spoke with Canal Plus (via Canal Supporters), where he discussed his future, and the Brazilian stated the desire to remain with Les Parisiens. However, the club chief wants to fix some of the squad’s issues.
“I think it’s difficult with me and impossible without me. I want that for sure; otherwise, I wouldn’t be here. Honestly, in terms of desire and energy, it’s not lacking. I made mistakes; we have to accept the mistakes. […] We will come out with thoughts, we will make decisions, and we will move forward,” Leonardo said.
It will be interesting to see what those in Qatar decide to do with Leonardo, who hasn’t impressed much in his second stint. Weaknesses like the midfield or his inability to sell players who have no future there have led many to call for his ousting.
