Paris Saint-Germain bounced back from its Coupe de France round of 16 elimination against OGC Nice, as it clinched a 5-1 win over Lille OSC on Ligue 1 matchday 23.
Overall, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino did not see a notable difference with his side’s attitude in the fixtures against both OGC Nice and Lille. But of course, as he noted during his post-match press conference against Lille (via L’Equipe), there was a stark difference in the overall showings.
“The attitude was also good but the performance was different this night,” Pochettino said. “In this match, we pressed Lille well, we forced them to play long balls, we were compact and when we recovered, we were able to bother Lille more.”
PSG notched seven total shots on target against the reigning Ligue 1 champions, with three of them coming from Messi. Over the recent clash with OGC Nice, PSG tallied for a mere two total shots on target, as Messi recorded one of them.
PSG stands at first place in the Ligue 1 standings through 23 total matches. The side will now meet Rennes up next for a crucial Ligue 1 home match at this point in the league campaign.
