AS Saint-Etienne manager Pascal Dupraz has lauded Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi as an “exceptional” player.
Ahead of AS Saint-Etienne’s league clash against PSG, Dupraz took some time (via Le10Sport) to open up on just what makes Messi a top-class talent in world football today.
“Messi is an exceptional player and I hope he will be a little less good than usual,” Dupraz said. “He is a fantastic player and has a humble image. He is not provocative and respects his opponents and his sport masterfully.”
Dupraz had a front-row seat to watch Messi’s all-around prowess as a playmaker in PSG’s 3-1 league win over AS Saint-Etienne in the first half of the season. Overall, the Argentine forward recorded three assists and created five goal-scoring chances for teammates, as he simply did not have much difficulty in roaming with the ball in the opponent’s defensive half.
As of late, Messi has continued to be a go-to playmaker for PSG, which includes three assists in his last three appearances in league play. Now, he will have an opportunity to add to his league assists tally in the upcoming matchup against AS Saint-Etienne.
