In less than three weeks, Paris Saint-Germain will be facing off against Real Madrid in the marquee matchup of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. While most will focus on it being a fight for Kylian Mbappé, others discuss seeing Sergio Ramos face his former club.
During an appearance on TVE, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos spoke about facing Ramos after years of being teammates with Los Blancos. The Germany international stated that going up against Ramos would be an odd feeling.
“[Ramos] wasn’t just another teammate; he was the captain. It’s going to be a bit strange to face him,” Kroos said.
Ramos played over 16 years for Real Madrid, making over 600 appearances for the Spanish club, scoring over 100 goals, and being part of a squad that won three straight UEFA Champions League trophies.
After being unable to agree on a contract extension, Ramos departed this summer from the La Liga side, and his first season away from the club, he’ll be facing off against them with a chance to eliminate them.
