As of late, Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has continued to rotate both Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma for the team’s starting goalkeeper role. Both goalkeepers have logged two starts each in PSG’s last four matches in all competitions, which include Navas earning the start in the Ligue 1 home fixture against Reims.
Still, Navas does not see that this situation with the Italian goalkeeper has been a pleasant one (via RMC Sport).
“For us, it’s a pretty competitive season,” Navas said. “It’s always good to have competition but I think on a personal level it’s not all pleasant to be in this situation. I think we both like to play all the time, to help the team. We have to try to earn our place on a daily basis, work and ensure that the coach takes us into account to play more.”
Overall, Navas and Donnarumma each have logged four clean sheets in Ligue 1 play so far this season, which include the latter’s showing in PSG’s recent 2-0 home win over Brest.
It will be noteworthy to see whether Pochettino will call on Navas or Donnarumma in PSG’s upcoming Coupe de France knockout stage fixture against OGC Nice. More so, the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Real Madrid is also looming ahead for the French powerhouse.
