Video: Pochettino Offers a Unique Take on PSG’s Play Style

As of late, there has been much criticism on Paris Saint-Germain for its inability to simply dominate fixtures from start to finish.

This was once again the case in PSG’s Ligue 1 home fixture against AS Monaco. PSG did not take full advantage of its goal-scoring chances over the course of the match, and Monaco wound up recording four more total shots.

Overall, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino does not see that any team in Europe today is capable of completely dominating matches for all 90 minutes. At the least, the Argentine does want to see PSG be more assertive when on the ball, which he touched on following the 2-0 win over AS Monaco.

“I don’t think any team in Europe is capable of controlling games 100 percent for 90 minutes,” Pochettino said. “We saw it yesterday with Manchester City, with Liverpool, Chelsea, or Manchester United in Norwich or even Bayern, who were behind.

“It’s good to be demanding with PSG, we have talent, and the ideal would be to have the ball, to get chances, and not to concede shots, but there is an opponent in front of us who is there to make it difficult, and that’s why it’s not always easy.”

Next up for PSG will be the Coupe de France knockout stage fixture against Feignies.
