Video: Pochettino Discusses the Importance of Messi Scoring a Long-Awaited First Career Goal in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi finally scored his first career goal in Ligue 1 play, as he notched a late goal against Nantes to secure a 3-1 win for his side.

The Argentine came into this match with zero goals in his previous five league matches. But as PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino touched on following the match, he does not believe that the forward was at all concerned over this goal-scoring drought in league play.

“I don’t think [Lionel Messi] was concerned,” Pochettino said. “The most important thing is that he scores goals, that he gets them not only in the Champions League but in all competitions.

“it’s nice for him, it’s important for him and for the team. That is always good. But no, I don’t think he was concerned about that, we know that he is a great champion, the best in the world, or one of the best. He has the ability and the cool head to find his moments, to have patience, as he has.”

Next up for PSG will be the key UEFA Champions League away group stage clash with Manchester City.
